Fabric Stories is where I get to share a little about the design, culture and origins of the fabrics that have found
their way to you, in a small piece of paper inside each chalk bag. My love of finding & collecting fabrics
has been around since I was a child. Especially during trips to India as a teenager, where I had the chance
to explore fabric markets. The fabrics found on Chaandu chalk bags are hand selected by my Grandmother,
Mother or I over a span of 20 years. From my Grandmother's Saris, swatches from her tailoring shop in
Andheri, or my own collection from travels both locally and abroad to fabric markets, vintage stores
or local production spaces.
I try to find fabrics that are unique and eco conscious.
-Vintage (sari's fabrics or from vintage stores)
-Hand Dyed or Loom Woven (ikat, indigo, block printed)
-Saris (from actual sari's or Indian women's wear full or swatches)
-Organic Cotton Canvas / Duck
I hope you enjoyed hearing a little about the fabrics! Next time you open a chalk bag
starting in October 2016, you will know a little more about its origin, design &
what makes it special.
